New welding robot expands ACS welding capabilities

Due to a military project in another European country, the company ACS Armoured Car Systems GmbH decided to invest in internal welding capabilities. Following an internal selection process between well-known robot manufacturers, ACS decided on a welding robot from YASKAWA with a FRONIUS welding source. The maximum component width is 2,500 mm, and the maximum component height 1,600 mm. We procured extensive accessories in addition to the welding robot. When choosing the robot, we paid particular attention to welding quality, traceability, modularity, and scalability.

With armoured steel assemblies, in particular, the best weld, not the fastest weld, is the key. In addition to online programming, offline programming is also possible. The welding robot should also help ensure that ACS is less affected by the skilled labour shortage. The robot is expected to arrive in Derching in the 1st quarter of 2021.
